The Town of Tillsonburg will once again be using Internet and Telephone Voting for the 2026 Municipal Election. This page provides everything voters need to know to prepare, vote confidently, and access assistance if required.

Voting will take place October 13 to October 26, 2026.

  • Eligible electors can vote remotely using their own computer, tablet, smartphone, or telephone from the comfort of their home.
  • Voting is available 24 hours a day during the voting period, with voting closing at 8:00 p.m. on October 26, 2026.

The Province of Ontario has published the 2026 Municipal Voters’ Guide, which provides general election and voting information applicable across Ontario.

Voter Information Letter

Your Voter Information Letter (VIL) will be mailed to eligible voters closer to the start of the voting period. If you do not receive a VIL or have lost your PIN, you can visit the Voter Help Centre for assistance.

Your VIL contains:

  • Your name and address
  • Your unique PIN, which is required to vote online or by telephone
  • Instructions on how and when to vote

If you are not on the Voters’ List, you may still be eligible to vote.

Election staff at the Voter Help Centre can:

  • Add you to the Voters’ List
  • Correct your information
  • Assist you with voting once your eligibility confirmed

Voting System Provider

The Town of Tillsonburg has selected Intelivote Systems Inc. to provide the Internet and Telephone Voting system for the 2026 Municipal Election.

Intelivote is a Canadian company that specializes in election and voting technology and has provided secure voting solutions for Ontario municipalities for many years.

The Intelivote voting system:

  • Allows eligible electors to vote securely online or by telephone
  • Uses encryption and security safeguards to protect voter privacy and ballot secrecy
  • Prevents multiple votes from being cast by the same elector
  • Is tested and verified prior to and during the election period

Election results are tabulated electronically and reported after voting closes.

  • Votes are anonymous and cannot be linked to an individual elector
  • The Town never sees how any individual voted
  • The system is reviewed and supported by trained election officials throughout the voting period

Voter Help Centre 

Customer Service Centre
10 Lisgar Avenue, Tillsonburg

  • October 13–23, 2026: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Voting Day – October 26, 2026: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

  • A secure digital voting station with internet access
  • Assistance from trained election officials
  • Voters may cast their ballot on-site if they wish

Election staff will confirm voter eligibility before providing assistance.

Eligibility and the Voters’ List

Elections Ontario is responsible for maintaining the Voters’ List for municipal elections.
All residents are strongly encouraged to:

  • Confirm that they are on the Voters’ List
  • Ensure their name and address are correct

Do not assume you are already registered. If you are not on the Voters’ List, you may still be eligible to vote. Election staff can assist you at the Voter Help Centre after confirming your eligibility.

You are eligible to vote in the Town of Tillsonburg if, on voting day, you:

  • Are a Canadian citizen
  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Are a resident of the Town, or the owner or tenant of land in the Town, or the spouse of such an owner or tenant
  • Are not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996

You may only vote once in the Tillsonburg municipal election, regardless of how many properties you own or rent in the municipality.

Last day to review or change your school board support designation with MPAC.

Last day to:

  • Add yourself to the Voters’ List
  • Update your voter information through Elections Ontario

Accessibility and Voting Assistance 

The Town of Tillsonburg is committed to making voting accessible to all electors.

  • You may bring a friend or support person to assist you with voting.
  • The support person must complete a declaration before assisting.
  • A person may only provide assistance once, except when assisting family members or residents of care facilities.

  • If you require an interpreter, you may choose anyone who is not a candidate or scrutineer.
  • The interpreter must complete a declaration before assisting.

Service animals are permitted at the Voter Help Centre in accordance with the Town’s Accessibility Policy.

School Board Voting Information 

You must be:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • A Canadian citizen
  • A resident, owner, or tenant of residential property (or spouse)

Note: Owners or tenants of commercial or industrial property only are not eligible to vote for school board trustees.

You may vote for only one school board.

  • English-language Public School Board
  • English-language Separate (Catholic) School Board (if eligible)
  • French-language Public School Board (if eligible)
  • French-language Separate (Catholic) School Board (if eligible)

Residents are encouraged to confirm or update their school board support with MPAC by June 1, 2026.
