Doors Open is a province‑wide initiative led by the Ontario Heritage Trust that invites communities across Ontario to celebrate their heritage by opening the doors to culturally, historically, and architecturally significant sites — free of charge. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, Doors Open Ontario encourages residents and visitors alike to explore the places that help tell the story of each community.
Here in Tillsonburg, Doors Open is our chance to showcase the spaces that make our town unique. For one special event, local buildings and sites welcome the public inside — some for the first time, others with fresh stories and new perspectives. It’s an opportunity to explore, ask questions, and connect with Tillsonburg’s past and present in a fun, engaging way.

Annandale National Historic Site
Step inside one of Canada’s most striking Victorian homes. Built in 1880 by Edwin Delevan Tillson, son of Tillsonburg’s founder, Annandale is the best example in all of Canada of the Aesthetic Movement style. The house itself is a work of art. Inside, visitors will discover ornate hand-painted ceilings, decorative stenciling, intricate woodwork, stained glass, and richly decorated historic rooms. Now preserved as a National Historic Site, Annandale offers a rare chance to explore the home and story of the family that built Tillsonburg.
