You should only call 911 when...

  • there is an immediate risk to someone’s life or property
  • you want to stop or report a crime in progress
  • you want to report a fire or medical emergency

Remember, if the situation is not an emergency, or the call was placed accidentally (i.e. pocket dial), you may prevent help from getting to those who need it

If you want to talk to an officer or request assistance, but the situation is not an emergency call 1-888-310-1122. Your call will be taken by a dispatcher who will direct the call to the detachment officer on duty.

Some kinds of incidents can be reported online using the OPP Citizen Reporting tool:

  • Lost/missing property
  • Stolen license plates or validation stickers
  • Theft from a vehicle
  • Mischief to a vehicle
  • Mischief (damage to property other than a vehicle, including graffiti)
  • Theft
  • Gas Theft
  • Driving Complaints

All submissions will be sent directly to the OPP and reviewed by an officer. You may be contacted to provide more information. You must have a valid e-mail address in order to submit a report.

Police record checks are required for a variety of purposes including employment, adoption, international travel, volunteer work, citizenship, name change, student placement or to obtain a record suspension (formerly pardon).

The OPP provides four types of record checks:

  • Criminal Record Check (CRC)
  • Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
