Pedestrian Crosswalk Safety
With back-to-school season in full swing, the Town of Tillsonburg is reminding residents to prioritize crosswalk safety as more children, families, and pedestrians travel throughout our community.
Whether you're walking, cycling, or driving, taking a few extra moments to stay alert and follow safe crossing practices can help prevent collisions and keep everyone safe.
Residents are encouraged to cross only at designated crosswalks and follow these important safety tips:
-
Push the button to activate the crossing signal.
-
Wait for traffic to come to a complete stop before crossing.
-
Make eye contact with drivers to ensure they see you.
-
Dismount and walk your bike across the road.
-
Stay alert and avoid distractions while crossing.
Crosswalk safety is a shared responsibility. Drivers should remain attentive and be prepared to stop for pedestrians at designated crossings.
Reminder About E-Scooters
Residents are also reminded that e-scooters are not permitted on crosswalks and may not be ridden on any Town property such as sidewalks, roads, and trails.
