Flags Lowered in Honour of Douglas Wilson
Flags at all Town of Tillsonburg properties will be lowered for one week in honour of the passing of Douglas Wilson (September 29, 1933 – June 30, 2026), a dedicated community leader whose contributions helped shape Tillsonburg for generations.
Doug dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Tillsonburg Public Utilities Commission (PUC), including six years as an elected commissioner. He also served the community as a volunteer firefighter and Captain with the Tillsonburg Fire Department for 40 years, earning the Governor General’s Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of his commitment to public service. In addition, Doug was a member of the Tillsonburg Parks, Recreation and Arena Commission for 12 years.
Beyond his many public service roles, Doug was deeply committed to the community. Whether coaching minor hockey, helping establish a Senior Baseball League in Tillsonburg, or supporting local recreation initiatives, his leadership, volunteerism, and devotion to the Tillsonburg community will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at the Carriage Hall, 25 Brock St. W., Tillsonburg.
