Flags at all Town of Tillsonburg properties are lowered for one week in honour of Douglas Wilson. Doug dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Tillsonburg Public Utilities Commission and served 40 years as a volunteer firefighter and Captain with the Tillsonburg Fire Department.

During the Canada Day celebration at Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, concerns were raised regarding both the entertainment at the Memorial Park Bandshell and the shortened fireworks display. The Town understands that the fireworks display is an important part of the Canada Day celebration and recognizes the disappointment experienced by residents and visitors when the display ended earlier than planned. To ensure residents and visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a full fireworks experience, the contractor has agreed to a makeup fireworks display to be held for Labour Day on Sunday, September 6, 2026, with additional details to be shared closer to the event.

The purpose of this notice is to advise that the Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg intends to declare a portion of municipally owned land on West Town Line and within the Potter’s Gate Plan of Subdivisions, as surplus to the needs of the Town at the July 13, 2026 Council Meeting.

On Monday, June 22, 2026, Town Council will review a report (EDM 26-014) outlining the next steps in a long-term community planning initiative involving the potential development of a new sportsfield complex at 67 Mall Road and future planning considerations for the Annandale Diamonds site at 160 Concession Street East. The report recommends launching a Level 3 Public Engagement Strategy that would involve consultation, collaboration, and community input on conceptual plans and future options for both sites.

Oxford County is initiating background work and community visioning for a new Official Plan. The Official Plan is a document that guides all development across all lands in Oxford County. A community’s vision helps identify local interests that an Official Plan needs to balance such as social and economic needs and the preservation and protection of natural assets, agricultural lands and natural spaces. The County’s vision and strategy help inform the detailed policies which guides local requirements for development (e.g. zoning by-laws).
