Outdoor Water Use Update

Town of Tillsonburg residents can now perform outdoor watering using a hose or attachment every other day.

  • Even-numbered addresses may water on even-numbered days
  • Odd-numbered addresses may water on odd days

Watering is allowed between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. OR 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Hand watering with a watering can or container is allowed any time.

If there is a return to unseasonably low precipitation and higher than average temperatures, or an above-average increase in outdoor water use, it is possible that increased water conservation measures may be put back into place.

More details are available by visiting www.oxfordcounty.ca/waterconservation

Do It Right: Backyard Pools

Thinking about getting a pool this summer? Owning a pool is terrific—but it comes with responsibilities.

Outdoor swimming pools can pose a danger to young children if left unattended and unprotected. By-law 4008 requires every outdoor swimming pool that is capable of holding water deeper than 24 inches or is greater than 22 sq. ft. to be enclosed by a fence.

A permit for a swimming pool enclosure must be obtained before the pool is installed.

Remember to investigate the cost of proper fencing/enclosure before purchasing any pool—including softsided and inflatable models.

New Bike Patrol Launched

Have you seen someone new cycling through your neighbourhood? It could be a member of Tillsonburg’s new bike patrol.

The bike patrol program, which rolled out in May, equips Town of Tillsonburg by-law enforcement officers with iGO pedal-assisted e-bikes to facilitate more easier monitoring of parks and trails.

While on patrol, by-law enforcement officers engage with the public on a variety of issues, ranging from animal control and responsible pet ownership, to parking and vandalism.
