PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice of Prior Surplus Declaration: 31 Earle St, Lots 25 and 26, Plan 966
The Town of Tillsonburg reminds the public that the property at 31 Earle Street, including the former Earle Street Public School and approximately 5 acres of vacant land, was declared surplus under Bylaw 4343 in 2019. While a previous development agreement did not proceed, the property remains surplus to the Town’s needs. The Town intends to divide the lands into at least two parcels and offer them for sale.
The purpose of this notice is to remind the general public that the Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg has previously declared the property known as:
31 Earle Street, legally described as Lots 25 and 26, Plan 966; Part WILLOW ST Plan 966 CLOSED BY A72887, AS IN 485417; S/T A96683; Tillsonburg;
and including the former Earle Street Public School building and vacant lands consisting of approximately 5 Acres, as surplus to the Town’s needs as per Bylaw 4343, which was approved on September 12, 2019.
Bylaw 4343 approved the sale of these lands to peopleCare Inc for a proposed Long Term Care and Retirement community. However, that agreement was transferred to another property in the Town resulting in no development proceeding on this property. The Bylaw still applies and the property is surplus to the needs of the Town, but additional notice is being provided due to the passage of time since the original surplus declaration was made in 2019. It is the intent of the Town to sever the lands into at least two parcels and sell the building and excess lands separately.
This notice is being provided in accordance with the Tillsonburg Land Disposition Bylaw 2021-031 and Section 270 (1) of the Municipal Act, 2001. As the lands have been deemed surplus, they can be offered for sale.
Please see Public Notice for full details, including a map of the subject property.
