Find relief during extreme heat

As we move into the summer months, it may be difficult for you to find a place to cool down, with many facilities limiting public access due to COVID-19. When Southwestern Public Health declares an extreme heat event, the Town of Tillsonburg is prepared to open a public cooling centre at the Community Centre (45 Hardy Ave).

When will the cooling centre be open?

The decision to open the cooling centre will be made by Southwestern Public Health. The operating hours will be announced here once the centre is ready, with typical hours of 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The cooling centre is currently OPEN on June 9 and 10.

Who can come to the cooling centre?
The cooling centre will be available to everyone. All visitors will be screened before entry. No pets other than service animals.
  • Separate room for those with any symptoms of COVID-19
  • Separate area for vulnerable populations including seniors and those with health conditions
  • Capacity limits will apply to ensure physical distancing requirements
Where is the cooling centre located?
The cooling centre is located at the Tillsonburg Community Centre. Access will be by the north doors only (outside the Lions Auditorium).
 What to bring with you
Please bring your own mask/face covering and wear it while in the cooling centre. If you do not have a mask, a disposable one will be provided to you. You should also bring your own water bottle.
