Appearing as a Delegation

Members of the public or citizen groups may submit a Delegation request to speak at an open meeting of Council.  

To appear as a Delegation before Council, submit a completed Delegation Request Form on-line or submit your request in person to theOffice of the Clerk at 200 Broadway Street, 2nd Floor, Suite 204.

The deadline for the submission of a Delegation Request is 4:30 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the requested meeting date.

Delegation Guidelines:

  • The subject matter of the delegation must be within the jurisdiction of the municipality.
  • Delegations are given 15 minutes to speak, including questions and answers.  
  • A limit of three people may be permitted at the podium at the same time. 
  • Deputations to Council from declared candidates for elected office shall not be permitted.

The Office of the Clerk will advise you if your request has been approved and will work with you to find a convenient agenda date for your delegation.  All presentation materials are required by the Office of the Clerk no later than 2:00 p.m. on the Friday before the Council meeting. 

Persons wishing to appear as a Deputation and who are not listed on the agenda may submit a written request, including the item on the agenda they wish to speak to, to the Town Clerk no later than 12:00 p.m. on the day of the Council Meeting.

Deputations are scheduled at the beginning of regular Council meetings and delegates are asked to arrive in Council Chambers by 6:00 p.m. on the confirmed meeting date.
