Tillsonburg 150: Time Capsule

Help us send a postcard to the future!

To celebrate Tillsonburg's 150th birthday as an incorporated municipality, you're invited to help us fill a stainless steel time capsule that will be opened in the year 2047.

How to participate

Members of the public are invited to propose items for inclusion in the Tillsonburg 150 Time Capsule.

Your entry must include a description of your item, as well as your rationale for including it:

• How is the item relevant to Tillsonburg?
• Where did you acquire the item? Is there an interesting back story to the item?
• Why do you think the item will be significant in 25 years?

The deadline for submissions is June 20, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.

Who will win?

Fifteen (15) winners* will be selected to add their items to the time capsule, which will be on display at Annandale National Historic Site and Museum until 2047.

Entries will be reviewed by members of the Tillsonburg 150 Committee. Each submission will evaluated for its uniqueness, creativity, size and relevance.   

Contest winners will be announced on June 24, and notified using the contact information provided at the time of entry.

Items will be sealed in the capsule on July 1 during the Tillsonburg 150 celebrations.

*Items included in the time capsule will not be returned to the donor.  

How to select your item

The time capsule dimensions are 16.3 inches long and 3.9 inches wide. It can hold a maximum of 22 pounds. 

The Tillsonburg 150th Committee reserves the right to reject any items it does not deem appropriate for the time capsule.
