The Town of Tillsonburg undertakes various construction projects throughout the spring, summer and fall. This work can range from minor curb or sidewalk repairs, to full road reconstruction projects and may result in traffic delays.

Current Projects

Project: 100-020 Maintenance Tender

Project Description:

Partial depth resurfacing (top layer) or full-depth rehabilitation (top & bottom layers) with spot curb and gutter repairs on various streets within Town.

Affected streets:

  • First Street - Between Lisgar Avenue and Queen Street
  • Queen Street – Between Concession Street and Fourth Street
  • Gibson Drive
  • Belfast Circle
  • Hampton Court
  • Wilson Avenue – Between Charlotte Avenue and Lowrie Crescent
  • Charlotte Avenue – Between Concession Street and Wilson Avenue

Streets will remain open to local traffic only.

Approximate Date: May 2020 – September 2020
Project: 101-020 Rolling Meadows - Phase 1 of 2 

Project Description:  

The Rolling Meadows Reconstruction Phase 1 of 2 (Tanager & Falcon) project limits are from Tanager from Owl to Falcon and Falcon from North Street to Canary Street.

The project involves the complete reconstruction of the pavement structure including new barrier curb and gutter, sidewalks, the installation of new storm sewers and catch basins along Tanager, new watermain and service laterals, new sanitary sewers along Tanager and sanitary sewer repairs along Falcon.

Affected streets:

  • Tanager Drive
  • Falcon Road
  • Canary Street

Streets will remain open to local traffic only.

Approximate Date: July 2020 – October 2020 
Project: 102-020 Langrell Avenue to Broadway Watermain Looping

Project Description:
Connect watermain from Broadway to Langrell Avenue along the 671 Broadway property easement.

Affected streets:

  • Broadway
  • Langrell Avenue

Streets will remain open to local traffic only.

Approximate Date: May 2020 – September 2020
 Project: 111-19 Rouse Street

Project Description:
The reconstruction of Rouse Street Sanitary Installation consists of extending the sanitary sewer from the pumping station on Rouse Street westward to Young Street.  The project involves the reconstruction of the pavement structure and new sanitary sewer.

Affected streets:

  • Rouse Street
  • Young Street – At the intersection of Rouse Street

Streets will remain open to local traffic only.

Approximate Date: May 2020 – September 2020
 Project: 126-19 Simcoe Street

Project Description:

Road rehabilitation work along Oxford Street from Broadway to Tillson Avenue continuing along Simcoe Street from Tillson Avenue to Vienna Road.

Affected streets:

  • Oxford Street – Broadway to Bloomer Street 
  • Simcoe Street – Bloomer Street to Vienna Road

Streets will be reduced to one lane each way.

Asphalt Paving Program

The Town of Tillsonburg uses a pavement management system to determine which streets should be resurfaced in any given year. Pavement conditions, pavement age, traffic volumes and maintenance records all influence the timing and need for resurfacing.

If your street is selected for resurfacing, you will receive an Asphalt Paving Program Notice approximately two (2) weeks before construction begins. The work on each street will take six (6) to eight (8) weeks to complete. Construction takes place in phases and there may be delays between each stage. 

The Town uses contractors to complete the following road resurfacing work:

  • repair of concrete curbs, sidewalks and catch basins
  • raise and adjust manholes
  • remove and replace asphalt surface
  • restore any damage to sod, driveways and private curbs resulting from the construction
