Do It Right: Backyard Pools
Thinking about getting a pool this summer? Owning a pool is terrific—but it comes with responsibilities. Outdoor swimming pools can pose a danger to young children if left unattended and unprotected. By-law 4008 requires every outdoor swimming pool that is capable of holding water deeper than 24 inches or is greater than 22 sq. ft. to be enclosed by a fence. A permit is also required before any pool that can hold more than 24 inches of water or is greater than 22 sq. ft is installed. Remember to investigate the cost of proper fencing/enclosure before purchasing any pool—including softsided and inflatable models. Learn more about the requirements for pools at www.tillsonburg.ca/pools.

How to use the Large Item Depot at the Transfer Station
The Transfer Station (50 Newell Road) is a site where materials are collected and sorted in preparation for processing. It is not a landfill or dump.
Before you go - Check the list of acceptable items on the Town’s website (www.tillsonburg.ca/ transferstation). Remember, only items that exceed the size or weight limit for curbside garbage collection will be accepted at the Transfer Station’s Large Item Depot.
Organizing your load - The Transfer Station has separate collection areas for different types of materials. Avoid delays by organizing and grouping similar item types together before you arrive.
When you arrive - You must show proof that you reside in the Town of Tillsonburg or own property within Town boundaries to use the Large Item Depot. Any abusive acts toward staff, whether verbal or physical, will not be tolerated. Concerns about policies and procedures at the Transfer Station should be directed to the Customer Service Centre.
