Posted on Wednesday April 20, 2022

The Town of Tillsonburg was well represented at the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) conference in Toronto last week (April 10-13). The Town’s delegration included Mayor Stephen Molnar, Deputy Mayor Dave Beres and Kyle Pratt, chief administrative officer. Other staff in attendance included Carlos Reyes, director of operations, and Richard Sparham, manager of public works.

The annual conference brings together municipalities from across Ontario and provides an opportunity for elected officials and senior staff to dialogue with the Province on important issues related to infrastructure, transportation and economic development.

“We’ve been able to advance the ball on a number of strategic priorities and issues over the years by attending this conference, and this year was no exception,”  says Mayor Stephen Molnar.

“We had the opportunity to talk with representatives from the Ministry of Transportation and highlight several issues important to Tillsonburg including access to short-line rail, the inter-community transportation pilot project, the Connecting Southwestern Ontario Transportation Plan and the Tillsonburg Regional Airport Master Plan,” says Pratt.

Other topics discussed with provincial representatives included planned upgrades to the Tillsonburg Community Centre, the asset management plan, the Van Norman Innovation Park, and long-term care.

I’m pleased with how things went,” says Molnar. “We were able to continue to dialogue on the Town’s strategic priorities and further strengthen our relationship with provincial officials.”

The Ontario Good Roads Association advances the infrastructure and transportation interests of its members through training, advocacy and services.
