How to use the Large Item Depot at the Transfer Station
The Transfer Station (50 Newell Road) is a site where materials are collected and sorted in preparation for processing. It is not a landfill or dump.
You must reside in the Town of Tillsonburg or own property within Town boundaries to use the Large Item Depot.
Town staff qualifies items upon entry to ensure the municipality is following the approved ECA regulations set by the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks.
Items that can fit in a garbage bag are not considered large items and MUST be put into a garbage bag for standard curbside collection. There is a $25 fee for large loads consisting of construction and demolition materials.
Any abusive acts toward staff, whether verbal or physical, will not be tolerated. Concerns about policies and procedures at the Transfer Station should be directed to the Customer Service Centre.

Emergency Preparedness Week: Be Ready for Anything
This year, Emergency Preparedness Week is May 1-7, 2022. Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative that has taken place annually since 1996. During Emergency Preparedness Week, the Town of Tillsonburg is encouraging you to take three simple steps:
Know the risks
Although the consequences of disasters can be similar, knowing the risks specific to our community and our region can help you better prepare.
Make a plan
Where would you go if you needed to evacuate? What would you need to take with you? Answering these questions now will help you and your family know what to do in a real emergency.
Get an emergency kit
During an emergency, you will need some basic supplies. You may need to get by without power or tap water. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in an emergency.
