Outdoor Recreation Pad: Seasonal Change of Operations

Posted on Monday March 18, 2019

The Town of Tillsonburg has shut down ice operations on the J.L.Scott McLean Outdoor Recreation Pad as of March 18, 2019 at the end of the March Break as scheduled.  The ice plant will no longer be cooling the pad, so the ice will melt over several days as the weather warms up.  Users are advised that no ice maintenance will be done and therefore the ice conditions may not be appropriate for skating.

After the ice is completely gone, Town staff will be removing the side boards of the pad and putting them in storage for the season.  The Outdoor Recreation Pad will be configured for basketball for the spring, summer and fall.

The Outdoor Recreation Pad was officially opened on Family Day, February 18, 2019 and has provided many hours of outdoor skating, hockey and ringette to folks of all ages since opening to the public on January 25, 2019.  Along with all of the many corporate and individual donors that have made the facility possible, the Town of Tillsonburg would like to thank Trackless Vehicles Ltd. of Courtland for loaning the Town a snow removal machine for the season.
