Town celebrates construction in Van Norman Innovation Park

Tillsonburg, ON - The Town of Tillsonburg is pleased to announce that Northern Specialty Supplies Inc will be the first company to call the Van Norman Innovation Park home.

North Ridge Realty (2020) Inc has been approved to begin construction of a new 14,000 square foot office, warehousing and value-added processing building for the Tillsonburg-based wholesaler and distributor.

“We have been experiencing strong growth over the last few years and need a modern facility that will enable us to maintain our growth trajectory,” says Aaron Carpani, President and Chief Operating Officer of Northern Specialty Supplies. “We couldn’t be happier than to be able to expand and grow in our home community.”

Since 1987, Northern Specialty Supplies has provided coin and currency packaging, cheque processing, ATM/Point-of-Sale (POS), security and loss prevention products to the financial sector. More recently, they have expanded into the e-commerce and law enforcement markets, and are exploring options to add value-added processing to their operations.

During the pandemic, they also expanded their wholesale operations to supply health and safety products.

While Northern Specialty Supplies originally purchased two acres for the company’s expansion, they have since purchased a total of four acres from the Town.

“We’ve been able to enter into an exclusive arrangement with Blake Envelopes, a U.K. based company, that will result in increased sales and exports across North America,” explains Carpani. “The added space will give us the room we need to service these new markets.”

“It’s exciting to see the investment the Town has made in Van Norman Innovation Park begin to bear fruit,” says Mayor Stephen Molnar. “I’m grateful to our partners and stakeholders, including the Province of Ontario, for supporting us and providing funding to help us get to this point. We’re also appreciative of the expertise of our consultant, CJDL Engineers, and of course, Town staff.”

“Business attraction, retention and expansion is one of the corporate goals identified in the Community Strategic Plan,” adds Tillsonburg CAO Kyle Pratt. “With serviced, shovel-ready industrial land now available, we’re in a great position to accommodate the growth of our existing businesses, as well as attract new jobs and investment to the community.”

“The opening of the Van Norman Innovation Park is the culmination of years of work by the municipality,” says Development Commissioner Cephas Panschow. “It seems fitting somehow that a made-in-Tillsonburg success story like Northern Specialty Services is the first tenant in the park.”

Mayor Molnar agrees. “The entrepreneurial spirit is a part of Tillsonburg’s DNA. We congratulate the Carpani family on their success, and look forward to welcoming more investment from other companies in the future,” he says.

Van Norman Innovation Park is located on the south side of Highway 3 near Clearview Drive.
